Natalia was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia after completing a Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Mass Communications (Public Relations) and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at the Australian National University. Natalia is well versed in Court advocacy after having appeared on countless matters involving traffic offences, serious assaults, sexual assaults, dishonesty charges, drug offences, restraining order matters and appeals. * Indecent Dealing of a Child x 2 - APPEAL GRANTED, convictions set aside and retrial ordered.
* Possession with intent to Sell or Supply 12 grams of Methyl amphetamine - AMENDED to simple possession.
* Robbery - AMENDED to Common Assault and sentenced to a fine.
* Stealing as a Servant x 19 - ALL DISCONTINUED.
* Steal Motor Vehicle, Reckless Driving and No authority to Drive - ALL DISCONTINUED.
* Aggravated Assault Occasioning Bodily Harm - AMENDED to Common Assault and sentenced to a fine.

Jo joined Butlers as a criminal defence lawyer in September 2020. She is an experienced practitioner in the field of criminal law, specifically jury trials and appeals.

She has had the opportunity of working closely on a number of major cases alongside some of Perth’s most prominent criminal barristers and senior counsel.

Her areas of practice include misuse of drugs cases, traffic, assaults, sex offences and homicide.

Jo also has a special interest in horse racing matters, specifically Stewards inquiries and appeals to the Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal.

Jo was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in November 2016 having graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2014, and completed her Graduate Diploma of Legal practice at the College of Law WA in 2016.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Jo had a number of successful previous careers including music as a performer and teacher, fashion design and public relations.

In her spare time, she is a busy mother, musician, and keen follower of the arts, cricket, AFL, tennis and horse racing. Jo loves animals, the beach, the outdoors and enjoys nothing better than going on walks with her family and their dogs.

Rachel Porter

Rachel was admitted to the Supreme Court of Western Australia in September 2019, after graduating from the University of Notre Dame Australia with a Bachelor of Law (Honours). She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and International Relations) and Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice.

Prior to joining Butlers, she completed her Practical Legal Training with Thomas Percy QC at Albert Wolff Chambers for 18 months. Whilst working for Mr Percy QC, Rachel gained an in-depth understanding of criminal law, and assisted counsel with a variety of complex matters, including Supreme, District and Magistrates Court proceedings for offences involving historical sexual assault, drugs, homicide and assault. She has also assisted on a number of criminal appeals in the Court of Appeal.

During her university years, Rachel clerked under the supervision of Simon Watters (also of Albert Wolff Chambers) and volunteered at the Mental Health Law Centre for three years.

Rachel is a member of the Criminal Lawyers’ Association and the Law Society of Western Australia.
