How can you assist with Sexual Offence charges?
We represent clients faced with sex offences ranging from indecent assault to more serious offences including sexual penetration without consent and sexual offences against children.
Sex offences are very serious and are generally dealt with by the District Court. Being convicted of sex offences can have serious repercussions, including a strong possibility of imprisonment and becoming a registered sex offender.
The more common sex offences include:
- sexual penetration without consent (commonly known as “rape”);
- indecent dealing with a child; and
- possessing, distributing and creating child exploitation material.
Some minor charges can be dealt with in the Magistrates Court, depending on the seriousness of the charge.
More serious sex offences, including all sex offences against children, must be heard in the District Court.
These offences are of a sensitive nature and we approach them with the utmost privacy and discretion.
